The greatest investment you can make for a happy, healthy life is an investment in yourself.
Today I’m talking about three major areas that stand the test of time when it comes to exponentially expanding your quality of life and giving you a massive Return on Investment.
Those 3 areas are…
1. Relational Equity
Invest the time it takes to develop and strengthen relationships with other people.
This is one of the greatest compounding assets you can create, and it’s 100% dependent on your actions.
No one can take this away from you.
Personally, I tend to focus on the quality of my relationships rather than the amount of them – I like to go a mile deep and an inch wide as opposed to a mile wide and an inch deep.
Nurture and cultivate the relationships you have, and be discerning about who they are with; after all, this is one of your greatest sources of joy in every experience and on every level of moving through the world.
If you’ve ever heard the saying (most often attributed to Jim Rohn), “you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with” that’s a great reason to seek and cultivate relationships with people whose values and ideas expand and align with your own.
Above all else, remember that the most important relationship you invest in is the one you have with yourself!
2. Intellectual Capital
Never stop learning.
The more time you spend expanding your brain power, the greater your capacity to experience life at a higher level, and the greater your ability to really experience as much of what the world has to offer YOU as you can!
The information in your head, your attitudes, and your thoughts are valuable resources that no one can ever take from you.
You could lose everything that has material value, and you will *still* own your brilliant brain and your intellect, so it is wise to invest in developing and growing them.
You may be waiting for me to say “health is wealth” and it most certainly IS – and the reason I’m mentioning it here in the Intellectual Capital section is because deepening your knowledge of how your unique body works and responds to food, exercise, stress and sleep is what will ultimately allow you to live a long, healthy life in a fully functioning body that looks and feels good to you.
Invest the time in learning about your health, as well as the things that bring you joy and inspire you – there are no greater foundational riches than those in your mind.
3. Experiential Equity
Keep sight of the delight and the joy that comes from choosing to experience life as it’s happening.
Take that day off…
…book that trip…
…make that leap…
…show up to the party…
…basically, do the things that thrill you and put you smack dab in the present moment.
There are so many constant day-to-day things that try to pull us out of the Right Now, but it is truly the most powerful, precious time we have, so it’s up to us to guard it like gold!
When we are immersed in experiences, adventures, and personal interactions – well, those moments are the fabric of not only our memories but also our personal power.
Life is WAY too short (and you are way too important!) to put anything off to “someday.”
Rockstar, when you actively create space and time to have adventures, meet new people, and experience moments of awe and wonder, you can be sure your life will unfold into greatness in positive, meaningful ways.
